TRICIA KUON (tav005{at}shsu.edu) is an assistant professor of library science, and JUANITA FLORES and JANIE PICKETT are doctoral students in the College of Education, all at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas. Abstract This article takes a look at some of the ways school media library specialists help teachers, students, and administrators: by providing resources and collaboration opportunities to help schools meet the Common Core State Standards, by providing the latest technology and teaching the use of that technology, by providing professional development about a number of topics, and by filling the role of a literacy specialist to increase student achievement and teach critical thinking skills.
