There’s little to disagree about when it comes to the dire state of our planet, and it’s no coincidence that global climate change is accelerating on-par with global inequality. At the same time, our most powerful institutions are crippled by bureaucracy and corruption. Despite these seemingly insurmountable obstacles, we at Village Earth believe that change must come from the people who are living and working at the front lines of the fight for environmental and social justice. Rather than carrying-out projects directly, Village Earth is developing a support structure for grassroots organizations around the globe – a structure free from the top-down impositions that can, and often do, destroy local creativity and initiative.
Just this year, our Global Affiliate Program helped raised over $75,000 to support programs that were 100% designed and carried-out by local grassroots organizations working on issues such as cultural self-determination on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, global climate change on the Cheyenne River Reservation, youth empowerment in Cambodia, and ending violence against women and girls in South Sudan. The program not only helps grassroots organizations connect with individual donors in the U.S. but we also provide networking, advocacy, technical support and training.
While our Global Affiliate program has come a long way since it was formally launched in 2010, we still need your help to make it grow and increase its impact.
